Frequently Asked CD Questions

ABOUT THE ORDER

How long does it take before my CD order is ready?

Our turnaround for CDs is approx. 6-8 weeks.

What is the minimum quantity of CDs for an order?

100 CDs per order is our minimum.

Is it possible to get any music I want on a CD?

You have to own the copyrights of the music and we need a Mechanical License to press your CDs. From a legal perspective we are not allowed to ship your CDs before we have this license. You can request one from the copyright organisation you are associated with. If you are not a member of a foreign organisation, go to www.bumastemra.nl and click the ‘’Portal’’ logo, top left. (When the page opens click English, top right). Now you will be enabled to create your portal account to apply for licenses.

I have requested a quote, what is next?

We will get back to you as soon as possible. We strive to send your official quote within 2 working days. After you have received the quote please check everything very carefully. From your address to the product you have requested. When you agree to this quote – which you can view and accept online – you will receive an invoice for this order. After payment of the invoice we will start processing your order and you will receive all details about uploading your music and artwork.

My release party is in 4 weeks, could you press the CDs as fast as you can?

We will most definitely do our very best to produce your order as fast as we can. However, during the pressing of CDs many little things can cause a delay. In order to not have a release party without a CD to sell, we recommend you to schedule a release date after you have received your CDs. Deepgrooves can never be held responsible for deadlines of releases, scheduled dates for release parties or any kind of agreements the customer made with third parties.

Can you also sell my CDs?

We only press your CDs. But we can give you some advice about selling and distributing your Music.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

What is a DDP Image?

DDP image (Disc Description Protocol image), also known as a DDPi, is a set of files used when replicating a CD or DVD. An error-protected delivery format that has become industry standard for reliable CD & DVD replication.

Advantages of a DDP Image

  • Integrity Of The Recordings. DDP files are not subject to manipulation and end up exactly as the artist intended. An audio CDR, for example, can influence the sound of a recording when used as a master due to errors and other effects of different dyes used in the disc itself.
  • Delivery Speed. DDP can be transferred using any medium including over the internet which speeds up the production process. Many organisations now only accept DDP, as they are faster and more reliable to work with.
  • Replication Errors. Using a DDP Image with MD5 Checksum will ensure accurate replication unlike an audio CDR.

How much music can there be on a CD?

An audio CD can hold 80 minutes of sound.

How do I get the highest possible sound quality on my CD?

You have to submit the audio files in the highest quality possible. We advise you to have your tracks specially mastered for CD.

  • Formats: WAV, AIFF or DDP Image.
  • Bit Rate: 16-32 bits.
  • Sampling Rate: 44,1 kHz or higher.
